Saori Torii grew up in the Tokai region of Japan and studied in the United States as a high school exchange student. After graduating from university, she worked for international airline and IT companies, including an assignment in New York, where she served as a liaison between Japanese clients and U.S. headquarters in multicultural environments.

She founded Torii English School in 2012. In 2021, she established Liberal School Japan, an HSC-friendly alternative school, to support Highly Sensitive Children. Inspired by her daughter’s experience with school refusal, she has since launched multiple initiatives to support HSCs and their families. She has also played a key role in advocating for the establishment of in-school educational support centers in all public elementary and middle schools in Funabashi City.

Drawing on educational study visits to the Netherlands and Denmark, she now incorporates Who am I? coaching and Project-Based Learning (PBL) into her free school, creating learning environments where children can learn authentically, safely, and with confidence.

Based in Funabashi, Chiba. Mother of two daughters.
